430 Years of Galatians
Galatians 3:16-17 – “Now to Abraham were the promises spoken… A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which came 430 years after.”
The 430 years here is referring to the Ten Commandments as the end of the 430 years. The Ten Commandments are the Jewish Law given to Moses in the same year that Israel exited Egypt. Galatians uses Moses’ statement of 430 years and applies it to receiving the Ten Commandments instead of the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 12:40-41). Since the Exodus and the Ten Commandments occurred in the same year, there is no change in the 430 years given in the Old and New Testaments.
